The Magic Bag hosts an eclectic array of music and sets the precedent for notably diverse entertainment in metro-Detroit. Located a mile north of Detroit, it is one of the city’s oldest theatres and Ferndale’s oldest music venue.
Since 1996, it has been continuously voted Detroit's Best Live Music Theater and is hailed as one of the Best Music Venues in Michigan today.

This historic theatre turned Venue has a colorful history. First the Ferndale Theatre in 1929, it became metro Detroit’s first Independent Movie House in the 60’s. An Adult Theatre throughout the late 70’s & early 80’s, it was shut down by the county before opening as a Music Venue in the mid 90’s.
For the last 20 years, The Magic Bag has continuously been voted SouthEast Michigan’s favorite place to see a show.
Located in a hip part of town a mile north of Detroit, the venue has an intimate setting & a pretty cool vibe.
The room is tiered into three sections, so there’s not a bad sight-line in house.
If you’re lucky enough to get down to the pit/stage side, you’ll be so close to the artist that you’ll be able to peak at the set list & maybe even be invited up on stage a la Dancing in the Dark!
