Comedy Night: A Press of Suspects
A special evening of comedy specially curated for the beautiful intimate venue at Patchwork Studios. On Friday 19th August Local Plymouth promoters A Press of Suspects {presents} are bringing their unique brand of comedy events to Cornwall. And what a line up they have in store:
Your host for the evening will be the phenomenal Anna Keirle: In 2003 Anna replied to an advert for new comedians. She had no material and had never done a stand up set.Her third ever gig saw her come second in the Funny Women awards. She reached the Edinburgh Fringe final of So you think you're funny? with her fifth gig, compared to Bill Bailey. Her sixth gig was in Torquay on a Wednesday night. Anna has a cheeky comedic storytelling style . Described as a bumpkin in her first review, she has, however, won the Weakest Link .Performing as a standup locally and Internationally. A quick witted, responsive MC she has experience from festivals, and clubs to prestigious events.
The incredible Chris White will be opening the show! Chris is a poet, performer & submerging artist originally from the Midlands, now based in the South West. With a passion for making poetry which is fun and accessible, Chris has performed his work nationally at festivals and spoken-word nights from Tongue Fu to Raise the Bar. He regularly makes full-length shows which he's taken to the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Camden People's Theatre, Cambridge Junction & The Pleasance. In his silly & surreal way he often talks about class, queerness & identity. He's won multiple slams, is a former Bard of Exeter, & the first 'Riddler in Residence' at Exeter Cathedral. He's also the creator & host of Spork! Poetry C.I.C and has produced and facilitated workshops for adults and younger people.
Your two middle acts are up and coming comics Ems Coombes and Robin Marsipan. Ems is a Totnes based Comedian, a lady with little filter and big energy. Ems had a stroke and brain haemorrhage at 17 and has been (in her words) “ducking awesome since then”. Funny and fearsome. Robin burst onto the scene this year, a fireball of energy, ripping into the hypocrisies and not holding back. Deffo one to watch.
Your closing act is Willtordian Ballorian Edwardian. A comic that deffo falls into the ‘alternative’ category! He has a penchant for Owls and enjoys creating a chaotic atmosphere using loops, music, quizzes, plays and mind-reading tricks. An energetic and whirlwind of an experience.
All happening on 19/8 at Patchwork Studios for a measly £5. Tickets HERE
