Jon Allen has a voice you don’t forget.
Just ask Jools Holland, who demanded Jon appear on “Later…” after hearing him on the radio. Or Duffy, who heard his version of “Mercy” and called him in to the studio. Or the millions of viewers of Homeland transfixed by his track “Joanna”. Or the BBC producers repeatedly A-listing his songs. Or fans Guy Chambers, or Mark Knopfler, or Jo Whiley, all of whom have been entranced by his trademark mix of catchy tunes and folk- and Sixties-inflected country blues.
In the last ten years Jon has carved out a niche as a recording artist and live performer, supporting such acts as Emmy Lou Harris, Damien Rice, Brian May, Seal and Dionne Warwick – whom he supported at the Albert Hall. His debut album Dead Man’s Suit received high praise from the likes of Q and Uncut, with the Nick Drake-sounding “Going Home” being used as the soundtrack to Land Rover Freelander’s TV advert in 2009.
A whiskey soaked voice with a string of critically acclaimed albums, Jon’s breath-taking live performances are moments to be cherished. He’ll be supported by James Holt, the Bolton-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s long been championed by music industry giants like Brian Eno for his distinct vocals, reminiscent of John Lennon or early Bob Dylan.
