It’s Valentine’s Day at Jazz Standard…and for the first time on our stage, two award–winning jazz vocalists will combine their immense talents at the same time, with their dual performances accompanied by the men who are the loves of their lives. Kate McGarry was the DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star Female Vocalist for 2016, hailed by the Wall Street Journal for her “austere and elegant” sound. In 2014, Kate and husband/guitarist Keith Ganz celebrated a decade of musical and life partnership with their first live duo recording, Genevieve and Ferdinand. Kate and Keith continued the celebration on their latest album, The Subject Tonight is Love, which was just nominated for the 2019 GRAMMY Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Tierney Sutton is a eight–time GRAMMY Award nominee, having earned a nomination for each album she has released in the last decade including After Blue a/k/a “The Joni Mitchell Project.” After Blue reignited Mitchell’s most vibrant material, with Sutton’s subtle, ethereal sound expertly accompanied by cellist Mark Summer (Turtle Island String Quartet) and her partner, French guitarist Serge Merlaud.
